The legendary Passer for Bust Loose, Toxis the Knife, reported to the rest of the team that the snivelling Brettonian team Vipers of Valour had also arrived in town recently. The self-righteous puritans were seen leaving an establishment of "Seamstresses" on the avenue of Roses. As the Vipers are well known to have 'issues' with the Amazon team, it appears things may get interesting.

In the midst of chaos, Blood Bowl still reigns. The first match has been scheduled and tickets are almost sold out already. Private boxes are still available for the right price.

Bust Loose will be bankrolled by the mysterious figure who met with Coach Dihenydd at the Dusty Drum. The cloaked and masqued patron would only identify himself as Lord Jagged.

"There are no winners in Blood Bowl, only survivors". Bust Loose still wins!

A peasant boy arrives at the place where games are being organized. He reveals that he was paid to deliver a letter to you, which he promptly produces, then scampers off before more questions can be asked.

The letter requests a small private box- "anywhere with a good view will do"- that is not too conspicuous. It goes on to say that "you will be able to recognize the recipient when said person arrives on the day of the match."

Attached to it is a bond that can be exchanged for a princely sum at the bank in Lyonesse...

Dihenydd leans back on his overstuffed chair. Takes a long puff on his rolled leaf cigar and watches the circle of smoke slowly rise to the ceiling. Possibilites race through his quick mind as he contemplates the letter in his other hand.

"Now the fun begins," he muses, "everyone always wants a piece of the action. Well, they do until it comes time to pay the bill."

He barks an order to Grenlin and Tom, the grizzled assistant coaches who are the only remnants of his own playing days years ago. "Make sure our "friend's" box is well stocked with Orca-Cola and a supply of McMurtey's."

And then as a slow smile appears across his scarred face, "Oh, and be sure to invite Anaix and Tromin to spend some time in the box too. They still need some rest before their next game. I'm sure he'll 'enjoy' their company. If he survives that is."

As the assistants leave he nods to the dark corner, the waiting figure, known only as "The Cloak", gives the barest flicker of his eyes. With singular grace, The Cloak rises and leaves through the other door.

Dihenydd, veteran of 23 seasons as a player, the star who gave Zug his first facial scar; now coach for a bunch of Amazons of all things, leans back into his chair again and watches the smoke again rise to the ceiling.

"These games are fun, and even more deadly than a hammer-blow to the nose."

Dihenydd stands in the rain chomping on his cigar. Grenlin stands beside him trying to hold an umbrella overtop, he's failing badly.

"What kind of stadium is THIS?" the coach bellows

Grenlin has survived to the ripe old age of 40, been a bloodbowler player and even a assistant coach by knowing when to speak and when to just hold an umbrella.

"This will never do. Never do. We came all the way up here, to this @$%%#^ town to play in a field of muck? There's no seats. There's no booth. #$%@#$#$ it there's not even a Cabalvision wizard. Two little boxes for the muckety-mucks to sit in. Not even a proper scoreboard. The ref is just some weasely guy who couldn't tie his... actually, on second thought, that's ok. Still, its a shame."

Dihenydd's anger fades into the cold calm Gremlin learned to fear even more.

The Bust Loose coach looks over and shares a long glance with The Cloak. Even in the midst of a downpour, somehow the The Cloak stays dry. "Stoopid git" Grenlin says to himself, not foolish enough to say it outloud. Even so, their is the impression, somehow The Cloak heard even that.

The Cloak nods and leaves, once again to do whatever he does.

"Yeah, this just ain't right. Gonna have to fix this right and proper. The one thing about us wiseguys; the hustle never ends."

There's a note stuck in the outside door of the Drum the morning after the next game is announced. It's in the same handwriting as the last such note you received- surprisingly inelegant for the fine parchment it's printed on.

The note reads-

Coach

I enjoyed seeing the last game. Be assured that I intend to show up at the next, although it will be less exciting as your girls are not playing.

Speaking of which- I also enjoyed the company of the two players you sat me with. I would be most grateful if you could repeat the favor.

Included in the envelope once again is a large sum of money

The coach crumples the paper and attempts a long throw basket.

"Damn, never was good at the passing game".

Tom looks at the paper by his feet and resists the urge to put it away, sometimes you are paid to give advice, sometimes to help, most of the time it seems you are paid to be still and listen.

"So, this is lookin' verra interesting now. Still, the extra cash is good. I'm just goin' to file under the employee pension fund if no one objects?" He stares meaningfully at Tom.

Tom just stares back as though not fully understanding. There is a lot of truth in that.

"Be sure to outfit the booth same as before. This time get Geri and Alazi to spend some time with our new customer." Dihenydd tosses a can to Tom. "And this time, fill the thing with this DedBull stuff. Tastes like the inside of a shoe, but somehow I feel like playing a game. Hmmmmm. Maybe tell the girls not to have any."

"Rest of the team is to work the Beer Garden, we have a special job to do once its complete."

"Cloak, I want you to personally deliver a message to Lord Jagged." He waves a small missive towards the corner of the room. The Cloak emerges from the shadows Tom didn't realize were there. "How the f@@@ does he do that?" he wonders.

Coach Dihenydd watches the girl go through their paces. Practice is going in an orderly fashion. The sidelines however are filled with fans watching the sweating girls run and perform drills.

The Bust Loosers, the fan based organization that follows the team is less interested and is instead mapping out the stadium seating to pick out their choice of seats in upcoming games. The group is usually made up of a surprising collection of ex-seamstresses, waitresses, models and other shapely women. They almost match the Amazons in ferocity, beauty and spitefullness. Of course the ever-present Fans of Bust Loosers, the collection of lonely men who are fans of the fans hover nearby. It is a mystery of human behaviour Dihenydd has never quite fully understood.

The coach takes some time to look up at the stadium. Ownership has now been fully resolved and he looks proudly at his new acquistion. Some small repairs are begun but he will need more supplies to complete the larger repairs. Bring in some sponsors, and lots of 'observers' to patrol the gates to keep the chaos from outside from interferring with the chaos inside. He already had some ideas on how to calm things outside the stadium.

Requests for the new fancier box seats have definitely increased, and some of the side projects are proving equally profitable. Today's "Free" training session, is a good example. Free to play, but the 'expenses' add up to give a tidy little sum.

"A few debts to repay. A few debts to collect. And we can get on with making some real money. So long as enough paying customers are left alive at the end of this mess, everything will work out".

The game of Blood Bowl had always been such a curiosity to Bertrand, the mindless violence, the containment of death for others observation and indeed enjoyment, and of course the blood. Bertrand liked nothing better than to see low-blooded commoners risk their lives in bloodsports, and this was among the most costly. Still, even his vast store of knowledge of heraldry and bloodlines from throughout the world knew little of the Amazons. After a while pondering this, he decided to view them as lesser nobles, peers and gentlemen, and somewhat worthy of his attention. As the powerful athelete stood at his side and the two sides clashed together in an orgy of sheer weight and flesh he made it his mission from that moment til the game ended to enjoy himself. Oh yes, he would enjoy himself to the fullest....
